First introduced in North America, this new method enables patients to reconnect with their self-esteem. For several years now, art therapy has played an increasingly important role in psychological treatments.
Among the various branches of art therapy currently being developed is photo therapy, which is mainly used to reconnect with your body and your image.
I'd like to make it clear that I'm not a therapist, but I do think that a photo session can help us to see ourselves as we really are, and not as society would like to see us. My aim is to restore a smile to customers who have lost it.
Syndromes linked to physical appearance are on the increase, in a society where control of one's own image has become a prerequisite for existence on social networks.
Our sessions are designed for teenagers in distress over the flow of “filtered” photos on social media, for women struggling to come to terms with the transformation of their bodies after giving birth, for people who have lost confidence following redundancy, and more generally for people who wish to feel beautiful.
As a photographer, I have to remain neutral and objective during the session, as I'm just a bridge between the emotions and the image.
There's no question of posing like a model, or projecting yourself into someone else's skin. On the contrary, throughout the session, I invite the person facing me to find himself or herself, to listen to him or herself, to discover his or her best self, in an extremely reassuring and caring environment.
